After the fantastic weights from the Easter festival earlier in the week, the anglers were hopeful of a good days fishing and again Rolfslake did not disappoint.

The great thing about the Wednesday opens is that the draw time is later at 1.30pm which means the match fishes late into the evening resulting in much bigger weights.

In my last match report I commented that the first 400lb weight was only 6 weeks away but after today’s match that might be a lot sooner.

The winner of today’s match was one of Rolfslake regulars Nick Dean, who was fishing peg 18 on the motorway bank. Nick today had a great five hours, fishing on the deck and up in the water using corn and pellet hook baits and feeding quite heavy. During the match Nick had big fish to 14-00 which helped him amass his final weight of 302-00 and the second highest weight of the year to date {well done Nick}.

In second place was Hugh Crawford who was fishing peg 9 which has been on fire the last couple of weeks with some big weights. Hugh fished towards the bush to his right using pellet and also caught big fish which helped him to his final weight of 242-12 {which would of won most matches this year}.

Completing the frame was Mick Jones on peg 14 who used his simple short range 6 mtrs fished on the deck using meat as hook bait and loose feeding pellet to get his weight of 211-08 and another personal best {well done Mick} The lake is currently responding to all methods and most baits.

Expect massive weights if the weather stays constant or gets warmer as the fish get their heads down to feed. Fish are being caught at short range later in matches as they get more confident and also try to fish any features that you might have as the big fish love them.
