Noah Calling

Where was Noah when the floods came?

Today down on the lake the anglers were hoping that the fish had finished spawning and that they were going to get down and have a good feed today. What the anglers did not foresee was the massive black clouds that were coming from the South which were going to wreck a good days fishing. During the match there was sun, torrential rain of biblical proportions, thunder and a gentle breeze blowing from the north {not good if you left your brollie at home and your coat in the car}.

Following their good run of frames at the lake recently, the Swindon bandits currently known as Rolfs Team Gold totally dominated today’s match. In first place today was Phil Powell who did really well to put a good bag of fish together considering he was fishing with a 13 metre lighting conductor. Phil fished shallow {between 2 and 4 feet } to pick off some of the cruising fish that were in his peg and used banded pellet and meat to catch his fish, feeding regular to keep the fish coming. At the end of 5 hours apart from being soaked Phil ended 1 fish ahead of second with 135-12.

In second place was Phil’s travelling partner Mick Lane who was pretty much opposite on peg 13 and who fished the same method as Phil {long and shallow} and was also rewarded with the only other ton weight of the day 128 -12. Completing the frame was the boss John Bennett who was pegged on the motorway bank peg 10 for the 3rd time in four weeks and who fished his usual 7 metres on the deck, using corn and pellet hookbait’s catching fish to 14-00 in his final weight of 68-00.

Down on the lake John has been currently installing aerators to aid fish welfare, and with this in mind has asked all visiting anglers to please refresh themselves with the lake rules, as a few have been broken recently i.e fish over 9lb in match nets and anglers trapping elastic against the pole and in effect are hand lining fish in which is banned, so please ask John if you are unsure..
