Today saw the start of the Wednesday opens and the 14 anglers were greeted with a sunny day and high expectations of a good days fishing and Rolfslake did not disappoint.

With the pleasure anglers fishing the small lake, the rest of us were left with the big lake from pegs 32 round to 9.

In first place today was Rolfslake regular Andy Camden who was fishing in-form peg 9 on the motorway bank. Andy today fished towards the bush to his right at a range of 8 mtrs and straight out in front, and was kept busy for most of the five hours. The bait used for today was pellet and corn fished on the deck and Andy was rewarded with fish to 15lb in his final weight of 238-12

In second place was Andy Chandler who was on peg 26 on the car park bank and who was fishing in front of peg 27 and also straight out at a range of 7mtrs. Andy used corn and pellet fed quite heavy to keep the fish interested and was only two fish off a match win with 218-04 but was happy with a PB instead.

Completing the frame was Mark Newbolt on peg 16 who used both the pole and bomb at a range of 13 mtrs catching fish to 19-04 in his weight 0f 157-10.

As far as my match went it was a challenge as I could not see my float due to the sun in my eyes which gave me a searing headache, but my main challenge came from Phil Powell’s girlfriend Aldonna who was fishing peg 19. Before Wednesday Aldonna had only been fishing twice before, and that was under Phil’s coaching down on the lake, and she gave me a run for my money as she caught 7 carp to my 9 and only stopped catching when she trod on her top kit (unlucky for Aldonna and lucky for me)
