As the anglers gathered for the Good Friday practice match in preparation for the Easter Festival, they were greeted by a cold swirling wind with hale and thunder forecast for later in the day, so proper wet gear was the order of the day.
With the lake recovering from river flood water, the work that John Bennett has put in pumping water out of the lake should be appreciated by the visiting anglers this weekend.
In first place today was in-form angler Phil Powell who was enjoying a good run of wins at the lake ,and today it was the pole and peg 26 that was going to be the winning combination.
With the festival going to be pole only Phil today put into practice a solid display of fishing at a mid range of 13 mtrs, fishing on the deck using a combination of pellet and corn ,catching carp to 10lb in his weight of 102-08 and a very deserved win.
In second place was another regular Clive Pritchard who was fishing little used peg 19 and Clive again used the pole fished at full depth towards the middle and the bush to his right, using pellet and corn for his weight of 79-08. Completing the frame was M Baston who fished deep peg 25 and used a similar method to the winner for a weight of 70-08.
The lake for the Festival will be split into 3 sections with
A section small lake containing pegs 34,35,37,38,40,2,4,5,7.
B section big lake containing pegs 8,9,10,13,14,28,29,31,32.
C section big lake containing pegs 5,16,18,19,20,22,23,25,26.
Good luck to all the anglers fishing the festival,
My preferred draw would be peg 7 A section, peg 13 B section and peg 25 C section.
