With the heavy rain in the previous week ,it was always going to be a big challenge for the anglers in this Sundays open as the far end of the lake pegs 21 to 18 were nothing short of swamp like. However, with the hard working John and Pauline Bennett and Ian McCulloch keeping the lake fishable, as it turned out it was going to fish very well.
Today in first place and keeping up with his early season form was Jason Gooch who today was fishing peg 24 {the winning peg of last weeks open} and made no mistake in winning todays match.

John was delighted with his draw......
Jason fished the waggler out into the middle of the lake using bread as hook bait and catching carp upto double figures in his weight of 75-14 and a very deserved win in cold conditions. In second place was Phil Powell who was fishing next to Jason on peg 23 but found the task of trying to keep up Jason a challenge as the fish do not move very far from peg 24 when the water temperature is cold . At the end of the match Phil had just done enough to come second with his weight of 50-00.

Good Luck Walking round to Peg 18!.
In third place was Steve Waters who fished a different type of match than the rest as he targeted the silvers ,which have been feeding well in recent matches and caught a fantastic 42-12 of silvers in his weight of 49-08 {well done Steve}.
The water levels are coming down ,due to some very hard work from John and his crew ,but please remember to bring your wellies as most of the platforms are under water.
The lake is starting to come back to life in the small lake ,as i had a 3 hour session on Wednesday and had lots of bites and 13 carp from peg 3 fishing corn and feeding quite heavy with micro pellet. I had to dot the float down to the tip in order to get bites ,and John saw more of my bites than i did so a competent angler would of doubled my weight.
There are still some places for the Easter Festival but you will need to hurry as the places are going very quickly so phone John Bennett if you are interested.
