With the number of anglers increasing in the Sunday opens and also the introduction of some new faces ,the regulars are now facing some tougher competition as the calibre of angler is making framing now as difficult as ever.
John Bennett tells me that Rolf is still in good spirits although getting down to the lake to see the anglers is still very difficult.
In todays match it was the same winner but different year for a change, as Rolfslake John Walker added another win to his growing collections of match wins. John today was fishing sheltered peg 22 in the big lake and had an enjoyable day, either fishing the straight lead fishing corn or the pole at a range of 16mtrs fishing towards peg 19. John swapped between both methods catching fish to 13-08 in his winning weight of 124-12 and a very good weight for this time of the year on a very cold day.

In second place behind John was Frank Hardie who was fishing form peg 26 but found the fish not in a consistent feeding mood but still caught on the feeder using bread and corn hook baits for his weight of 83-00. Completing the frame was Dave Whiteman who was fishing peg 18 ,and Dave fished the long pole fishing at depth using corn feeding pellet but found fish hard to come by in his weight of 42-08.
The fish at the moment seem to be tightly grouped in the big lake from peg 16 round to 26, and also in the middle so the long pole on some pegs is not long enough. Try the bomb fishing bread or corn,or the waggler dragging the bottom as the tow at times is quite strong.
John has been working very hard clearing the lake and keeping the water levels down so remember to still bring your wellies as some pegs are still under water.
More anglers are coming down to the lake to enjoy some proper winter action, and John tells me there are still some places for the Easter festival so if you would like a place give John a call.
