Rolfs' Diary 2007

Fishing 12pm til 5pm

Gary Knight, Acorn Angling, took a near 200lb weight for a match win in the Whitsun Bank Holiday Monday Open at Rolfslake. Heavy rain and high winds dominated the weekend, with Monday carrying on where Sunday had left off with the weather.

Match Winner

Matt Nutt - Doing what is now known as the 'Matt Nutt'

Those match anglers that braved the foul weather were rewarded with some bumper weights as no fewer than 12 Anglers recorded weights over 100lb. Realistically any of the top 6 could have taken the match, although Phil Powell and Mick Lane put up the best fight for the top spot from pegs 32 and 19 respectively.

Elsewhere, John Bennett topped no fewer than 3 anglers in the 140lb+ class. Luncheon meat over Pellet still catching plenty of fish but there are signs that the fish are starting to come to paste and heavy feed approaches. However, the recent heavy rains and increased water levels will again keep the fish in the margins and feeding on larger 'solid' baits.
