Rolfs' Diary 2007
Spring League Match 3 of 6 Backing weights continue to improve but still short of those expected in the coming weeks. With a number of warm days to warm up a 'sluggishly' cool spring lake, the winning weights have been impressive since easter. This trend continued today with meat and pellet baits scoring well for the top teams.
Clive Pritchard Mark Chard fished into the corner to his left from Peg 2, presenting his luncheon meat hookbait 4m from the bank over cupped pellet for a number of decent Carp to 15lb in a winning weight of 184lb 7oz. On Hot Peg 23, Phil Powell took a respectable 145lb 4oz of Waggler and Pole caught fish; All taken at about 16m feeding pellet and caster with luncheon meat and pellet hookbait's. Luncheon meat seems to be the most consistent hook bait at the moment as the Carp begin to come well onto the pellet loose feed. Expect the coming matches to improve with good Paste weights starting to feature as fish settle after a short spawning period. Rolfs Team Gold launched into themselves into top spot with a brace of section winners to pull 2 points clear of the chasing SPRO and 3 clear of team Speedy. With Spring League champions, Rolfs Team Diamond, not fishing the Summer League, the title has been wide open with Speedy, SPRO & RTG all in the frame.
