As the anglers gathered around the lake today ,the question John Bennett was asked the most was, where were the three pet squirrels that he had been looking after? They had been missing for three days ,so there was no entertainment for the guys before the draw.

With the weather still warm and the fish still in a feeding mood ,the anglers were all ready to draw on time, except me who turned up half an hour late, and had peg 32 drawn for me, what a result ! For company today I was going to have to endure John Walker {back on lake record peg 8 }, John Bennett on peg 9, and Colin Wedgebrow on peg 30, so a battering was on the cards for me..

After having to endure all the stick of drawing peg 8 today ,Rolfslake sponsored angler John Walker had to show the guys that his big weight the other week was no fluke, which he duly obliged by winning the match today.

Fishing a combination of 16 mtr's across and to the big bush to his left, John caught for most of the match using a combination of Yorkshire Baits Company Kopy Kat 9mm and Garlic pellet, with also corn as a change bait . By feeding heavy John managed to keep most of the fish away from John Bennett {who was fishing the other side of the big bush,} for his winning weight of 244-08 and a deserved win.

Colin Wedgebrow - About to Net a Carp

In second place was John Bennett who was on peg 9 and who shared the carp with John Walker but drew the fish away from me on peg 32. John fished the first ledge against the bush ,and used corn as his hookbait, feeding very heavy to keep the big fish interested in his weight of 188-00. Completing the frame was Colin Wedgebrow ,who was fishing peg 30 on the big lake and using his usual tactics of fishing at a short range of 4 mtr's feeding very heavy ,but this time using a combination of corn and banded pellet instead of his big soft pellets that have brought him success recently for his weight of 168-08.

The lake continues to fish well in the midweek matches ,with lots of ton weights for the anglers that adapt their methods during the match. The big Yorkshire Bait Company's pellets are still catching lots of fish ,but with the weather due to start getting colder soon a change to their small 6mm pellets will be a handy alternative.

Corn is starting to catch a lot of fish so make sure to take a tin with you ,or see John Bennett as he has some on site. Lloyd who has been managing the website for years has put some interesting links for you to visit, so have a look at the products or services as they are very good.

Float Ahoy! Frank struggled with the light conditions in the later part of the match, the sun was however very welcome.
