Rolfs' Diary 2007
Winter League Match 4 of 6 Given the remarkable weather conditions for matches 1,2 & 3, it was no surprise for the match anglers to arrive at Rolfslake this morning to find the lake 4ft up on normal levels. Heavy overnight rain for the last 2 days had ensured a steady influx of cold murky water - not the best of conditions.
Phil Powell with a Big Perch It was a reliable peg and good match angler combinations that returned section wins in A & B sections; namely Peg 7 and John Price (A Section) and Tony Taylor with Peg 28 in B section. It was once again A section that produced the least sport with only a few ounces from summer hot spot peg 34 the pick of the 'nightmares' C Section did manage to turn up a few Carp with Pegs 23 and 18 able to take advantage of being able to cast a feeder to a very obvious group of Carp that could be observed feeding around the vacant pegs 19,20 & 21. Mick Lane on Peg 23 topped the list and ran out eventual match winner with a winter ton up return of 115lb to pip Mike Stimson's effort of 95lb 4oz. Mike has been the inform angler on the bank so far in the series and has battled his Rolfs Team Diamond into a Gem of a position. With just two matches remaining the advantage of 10 points may prove very precious indeed.
