As the few anglers gathered at the draw ,it was going to be a very tough day with the water up ,leaves floating on the lake and a cold wind blowing down the lake making life difficult, winter was starting to set in. The good news was that Rolf was out of hospital although he is still not back to his best so the guys send their best wishes and hope to see him soon.
Today in first place was Rolfslake angler John Bennett who is on top form now the weather has got cold and the lake has become more of a challenge. John today was fishing the moody small lake and peg 38 {a peg that has shown some form recently} and set his stall out to fish the margins at a range of 10mtrs and 4feet out from the bank using corn hookbaits .The secret of John success is his ability to extract every fish that feed in his peg by constantly moving his rig to entice bites. John today had a run of fish to 14-08 in his on the board weight of 135-04, and winning the match by over 100-00 in his final weight of 238-12 and a deserved win. In second place and still learning how to fish the margins was me Eddie Taylor-Green who was fishing peg 23 in the big lake, and i alternated between the big bush to the right and at a line of 10 mtrs straight out in front ,using corn hookbaits feeding quite heavy for this time of year .With the peg at times becoming unfishable due to the leaves floating around the swim i had to wait at times for the leaves to blow away which amazingly brought lots of fish to the surface searching for food for my weight of 121-08. In third place was Rolfslake Mick Chappell who was fishing peg 34 ,and who fished along to the 3rd bouy fishing at full depth using a combination of corn and pellets, but a change to paste late in the match boosted Micks weight 115-14 but could of been higher except for a few lost fish that got to the lilly pads.

The lake is fishing very well for this time of year with 200lb still required to win any match, but you will still need to be carefull not to over feed the peg as the fish back away from heavy feeding. Still bring your wellies as some platforms are still under water ,and a change of clothing as if you fall in the lake has very cold water in it at the moment.
Check the draw times with John Bennett before matches to ensure you arrive on time ,and remember there is no Wednesday match next week as the lake is booked out.
