After the fantastic weights from Sunday the guys were raring to go in the midweek match, and it brought out some of the big guns who had been missing from the previous couple of weeks ,in the shape of Pete Archer and Ernie Malyon.
The weather was cold windy and rainy {just a regular summers day for July} but the fishing was still consistent. With peg 15 out for today ,the car park bank was the place to be as it had fished very well on Sunday. In top spot today was Pete Archer who was on end peg 23 and spent most of the match fishing shallow using pellet /meat for a weight of 264-00 and a deserved win. In second place for the second match running was John Bennett who on peg 26 fished short pole using paste /pellet next to the bush on peg 27 for a weight of 235-12. Completing the frame was Ernie Malyon who fished tight to the bank towards peg 33 for a weight of 210-12 fishing pellet.
As the weights continue to climb towards 400lb, John tells me that people will start booking early to get a place on the Wednesday matches as the chance of a personal best or a world record are really on during the months of July and August. Paste continues to dominate the big weights and heavy feeding is key in the margins for the monster weights.
