Rolfs' Diary 2006
Wednesday Open
Water levels up with recent rain, the cooler conditions took the edge of recent triple Ton Plus weights. However, there were plenty of fish still on offer and a tight match was contested on those pegs close to the draw hut - namely the 30's.
Nick Merry (Total-Fishing) Mick Jones (Rolfslake) drew just outside the 30's on peg 27 to take the best weight on the day with a method that proved to be the chosen attack of all those in the frame - Paste on a short line over loose fed pellet. Mick took a number of fish into mid doubles to press home his advantage over the chasing Rob Kite on 37 who finished in 2nd place with 163lb 8oz. Both anglers fished at 4m. Barry Morgan (peg 38) John Bennett (peg 32) and Chris Dann (peg 30) all had a shout at winning the match with all the chasing pack just a few fish of the major brown envelope. Elsewhere, bits a little slow as harder conditions kick in. Big baits still scoring well - paste making a late showing in warmer than average autumn conditions. |
