Rolfs' Diary 2006
Good Hope AC Festival . The Good Hope AC occupied the banks of Rolfslake on Saturday and Sunday of this bank holiday weekend - and the few days of 'low' weights seem to have come to an end with both matches won with weights in excess of 300lb.
Peg 37, fished in front of Peg 38 with Paste, seemed to be the hot spot for both days with the individual winner coming from that peg and tactic, although on Day 2 the winning margin was just 12oz's after Scott Whittaker had bank 357lb 12oz's to Richard Day's 357lb from Peg 7. Scott's winning weight on Day 2 was enough to secure overall festival winner with a fine individual 1st and 2nd over the 2 days. Once again, many anglers returned home having broken PB's with both largest fish caught and new match records; a frequent occurrence this year at the venue. Paste is without doubt taking big numbers of fish, and there's no need to fish beyond 5m and the fish want the bait close to or just down the initial ledge - or close to any feature on the inside (or better still under any spare peg that may be to the left or right of your allocated peg!) Expect the weights to continue if the weather settles into the week. A big-big weight is definitely on the cards and indeed overdue. Please Note: the League Matches are now 12pm Draw |
