Rolfs' Diary 2006
Wednesday Open I must have put the mockers on the Wednesday Open's when I reported for the last two weeks that the matches where getting better and better. Well, following the run of very hot days and prolonged high pressure - it seems the fish have gone off for a bit as oxygen levels continue to drop. Many anglers struggled for bites in today's match as fish cruised around the lake with little interest in feeding.
Having written the above with 2 hours to go - I spoke to Rolf as he was having his tea and he reported that the match was fishing very hard and only a few had taken the odd fish. By the time Rolf returned to the lake the fish had switched on and a race for the match was on. Loyd Moss, Cove AC, just piped Ian McCulloch (Maggots End) with 176lb to 173lb. Both anglers fished 15m long pole with sprayed pellet fishing shallow to take the feeding fish in the final 90 min's. John Bennett took the best paste weight for 3rd from peg 26 with 145lb. The fish fed well all around the lake with most anglers taking or pushing close to the magical Ton up Target. |
