Rolfs' Diary 2006
Maggot Drowners GOT Baits matchman made good with a prototype paste - known as GOT Putty - to take a fine match win in one of the annual visits to Rolfslake for the the Maggot Drowners (www.maggotdrowning.com) Without becoming an advert for GOT Baits, the product is a stiff paste designed for the hook or to be molded around a hard pellet to be fished on the Tip or as an alternative to other pastes. It has already accounted to a number of match wins for the GOT Anglers that are testing the product.
Some of the GOT Angers were reluctant to fish with Rolfs low oil fishmeal free pellet and fished hemp and caster as an alternative, which didn't seem to do too much harm. There were plenty of backing weights and a total of .1673lb 10oz got hauled onto the scales by the MD matchmen - one of the Top Clubs that visit the venue on a regular basis. Pete Morton put up a decent fight from Peg 30 with 125lb ahead of Dave Ashby on Peg 28 with 111lb 02oz. Anthony Haywood took the only other Ton of the day in 4th with 108lb 10oz, although the backing weights went down to 75lb for 12th Place - A clear sign that the fish are starting to recover from a spawning period and come on to the feed. |
