Rolfs' Diary 2006

Wednesday Open
.19 July 2006

Ginger Stole the show this Wednesday with a run-away 373lb 8oz from Peg 23. Fishing an arm aching 16m he kept the fish coming by feeding regularly with plenty of pellet. The fish have been in a 'up in the water' mood for most of this month as a number of big weights have already been taken. Ginger adds this win to a fine run of results at the Oxfordshire complex.

Welsh International Andy Johnstone found himself on unlucky peg 13 - although the peg is anything but unlucky! Andy feed a shallow line at 14.5m and fished there immediately with good response at 2ft deep. With a run of fish resulting in an eventual smashed rig was the driving factor behind Andy switching to a line that was 18 inches deep - this was to allow him to make a new 2ft deep rig. As luck would have it, as soon as he shipped the rig out the elastic buried into the depths of his peg and his match was set!

Andy eventually returned 310lb 12oz, a new PB and enough to beat ETG who also had a new PB but failed to reach a magical 200lb - much to the amusement of the on looking anglers - who needs mates hey Eddie?

One of the nicest guys you'll meet on the Open Match scene, other than myself that is! Andy set a new PB today with a fine 310lb 12oz from Peg 13. Rolf reported he also set a new land speed record for a 10lb Carp as he 'thundered' across to the weigh scales in an attempt to save extra time..
