Rolfs' Diary 2006

The Cove AC visit to Rolfslake turned out to be a one horse race for the winners envelope, however, the race for 2nd was a far tighter afair. Loyd Moss fished at 16m on peg 15 to take a decent double ton (229lb) on Bread and Meat hookbaits over loose fed pellet. Loyd is a frequent visitor to Rolfs and took full advantage of being the 'Subject Expert' for the day.

Paul Newman topped the chasing pack with 88lb from Peg 18, nearly 150lb behind winner Lloyd! Paul fished Meat and Bread hookbaits at 6m in the deeper water on the inside line that is well known at pegs 15,16,17 & 18. Often when the longer line fails on these pegs, and particually on peg 18, the shorter line can produce a number of good fish and some fantastic weights to boot. In reality, Paul's weight was just one decent fish ahead of the next 3 weights which went 84lb, 80lb and 79lb.

Meat and Bread was key to converting bites into fish as paste has all but lost it's effectiveness. Pellet hook baits also producing a few fish.

Paul Newbury

Red Hydo Elastic doing it's job well for Paul Newbury - Setting the Elastics right is more important at Rolf's with so many fish approaching 20lb. Too tight and it's good night pole! The amount Paul has out is an Ideal amount according to fishery owner Rolf.
