Rolfs' Diary 2006
Wednesday Open The Wednesday Opens continue to get better and better and today was no exception. With clear skies and bright sunlight most anglers opted for a long pole and pellet fished shallow to take the carp up in the water as they cruised the oxfordshire venue basking in the fine June weather.
Rolfslake matchman Phil Powell made best use of local knowledge and took full advantage of Peg 30 by fishing shallow from the off to ambush the pegs resident fish and draw in plenty others as the match progressed. Anthony Rogers (Preston Innovations) fish identical tactics and only after the final weighing in were the to angers separated - and only by 2 fish! Phil had taken a fine 257lb to take the top spot and fat envelope ahead of Anthony's 245lb. Backing weights were just as impressive as the battle for top spot with Loyd Moss the 'best of the rest' with 167lb from peg 17. Loyd also fished shallow at 15m and 'pinged' pellet for his ton up weight. The Wednesday Opens are a permanent fixture at Rolfslake.
