Rolfs' Diary 2006
Winter League
Top 3 - Steve Wilson, Richard Day and Gary Page (Winner) Gary Page took 61lb from Peg 23 fishing maggot at 16m. Fishing long on the peg, Gary worked hard for all his fish and a desirved match win. In what was a tight match Richard Day took 52lb 9oz to push Gary all the way to the final whistle. Again Richard fished long at 16 and presented double Red Maggot for most of his fish.
Steve Wilson was a victim of his own elastics, reported Rolf, 'Steve bumped so many fish, he could have been clear winner' the venue owner continued, 'His was using 18-20 Elastic and had it set too tight, a softer elastic would have avoided all those bumbed fish.' Steve did however, manage to hang onto 51lb of fish for a fine 3rd place.
The weights were good considering the lake had an inch of ice across the whole venue yesterday morning - Rolf spent most of his Saturday clearing Ice for his specimen anglers and in preperation of the match today. |
