Rolfs' Diary 2006

Wednesday Open
.
11 October 2006

Thunder, Lightning and Heavy Rain didn't put the anglers off in Wednesday Open at Rolfslake this week. The backing weights took a slight dip but overall a decent match was had by all. It was noted that most of the fish taken were close to the back - which may reflect a Carp's instinct to feed off worms and grubs washed into the lake during 'poor weather' conditions.. At Rolf's Lake the fish have to get close to the source supply if they're to feed ahead of other competing fish!

Bill Galt (Winner with 249lb 6oz)

Bill Galt, now a lake regular and Fisherman's Friend Tackle Shop supremo, found plenty of fish willing to feed close under the bushes at Peg 9. His luncheon meat and pellet approach was too much for the resident Carp to resist as a total of 249lb 6oz fell to the Birmingham based matchmen for a fine match win ahead of John Bennet (Rolfslake) 189lb 12oz on Peg 6 and Chris Dann (Littlemore AC) 185lb 8oz on peg 30 in full view of Bill on the opposite bank.

Chris had the shortest walk to his peg and enjoyed his day's sport. 185lb 8oz was good enough for 3rd place and another brown envelope for Chirs at Rolfslake.
