Rolfs' Diary 2006
Winter League Match 1 of 6 The Winter League at Rolfslake for 2006 got underway Saturday. Notwithstanding the disappointments of one of the teams unexplainably not turning up, even worse there was a number of other teams on the waiting list too! the match produced a number of good results with all 3 sections well contested for the points on offer.
Ginger (Not many of these to make 103lb!) Its was once again Rolfs Team Gold that set the pace for the others to chase, but it seems it will be a much closer chase this year, and maybe it will be RTG that will be doing the chasing in future matches? RTG headed the day with 21 points and 311lb total, only a few fish ahead of Hayes also on 21 points but a lower 282lb total that gave RTG the bragging rights until next week! However, the league does not tally the weights on the day for points so we have equal first place going into match 2. Loyd Moss carried some good form into the match and took full advantage of the a decent draw in the cooling conditions in the shape of Peg 24. Loyd took a number of fish well into double figures and like most of the others to the bulk of his fish in the last 2 hours of the match. Those not on noted pegs found the going much harder as the Carp have started to bunch up in preparation for the cooler months. The Section Boards only tell half the tale of a lake in transition to it's winter form, it seems the Winter League will be every bit as good as the Summer and Spring Leagues that proceeded it.
