Rolfs' Diary 2006
Black Bull Aughton North 17 year old Jack Throw took the Bull by the horns and stormed to a match win in the first of two matches this weekend at Rolfslake. The Black Bull Aughton North matchmen made an annual migration South to fish the World Record Breaking Match venue.
Jack fished 8m on the paste from Peg 1 for a pole position in the weekends match fishing follies. Neil Pedelty took second spot on day 1 from fancied Peg 24 with 122lb fishing shallow with pellet and luncheon meat. Most of the backing weights on day came from fishing 5-8m on the paste - but the best was to come on day 2 as far as the backing weights where concerned.
Alan Oates took the winners spot on day 2 with a fine 190lb fishing Paste and Luncheon Meat at 8m from Peg 18. The short'ish line at Peg 18 offers a decent depth of water and has produced some massive weights in previous years. Allan Thompson took 157lb fishing next the bush on Peg 26, which is noted as one of the best paste pegs on the Oxfordshire match fishing complex. Wilf Hallam made it 2 by 3rd places in 2 days with 153lb fishing shallow on Peg 23 at 14m. On the day there were more than 16 anglers that returned 100lb+ in a contest that was as much fun as it was packed with top condition Carp. Rolf looks forward to seeing the guys from the Black Bull again in the near future and thanks them for their assistance over the weekend with the weigh-in. |
