Rolfs' Diary 2006
Wednesday Open Rain Rain go away, the rain that fell today was some of the heaviest rain to fall in the UK in a single day since records began. Myself living in Wiltshire witnessed no less than 5 inches of rain - in Swindon someone told me that it was close to 8 inches!! The rain did little to dampen the fishes appetite today at Rolfslake and Ian McCulloch took full advantage with a triple Ton Up bag and a new personal best.
Ian drew peg 30, which has been in great form all year, and blasted his way through the treble ton barrier as the fish at Rolfs lake start to respond well to the post spawning period. With the lack of fishmeal going into the lake the paste has been almost not effective or at best non competitive, which is hard to believe given it's dominance in previous years. It seems that pinging pellet at 14-16m is the key to current big weights. Just to buck that trend, John Bennett took a double ton for second spot today from summer hot spot 32 - which was a nice change for John not to be on Peg 24! In an addition to John Bennett's great guide to preparing the new pellet I would like to add there is a quick way of getting the best on the bank without too much trouble. a. Add a bag of pellet to a large mixing bowl.
