Rolfs' Diary 2006
Winter League As a fortnight of freezing weather extends into yet another week, last nights minus 4 dipped the water temperature to a fish stopping 38 Deg's. As a direct result the lake had frozen over again this morning and the anglers first job was to break the ice. Ian thanks all those that helped out and would like to remind all reading this that the next match is next Sunday - ie 12 Feb 2006. John Price, Red Lion GOT, fishing from Peg 25 attacked the peg at 14.5 to 16m on Red Maggot for match winning 46lb 4oz. With the backing weights dropping to a miserable 28lb, it goes without saying the lake didn't fish too well. John Bennett, however, did catch in excess of 9lb of skimmers earlier on in the match to boost his weight to a near 14lb, but the melting ice dropped the water temperature even further, and John delusions of winning the match on skimmers disappeared as quickly as the bites.
