Saturday 29th January 2005 - Open Match

Mick Wilkinson
(Sensas Milton Keynes)
Peg 14 - 19lb

With all the anglers in the large lake, the Carp took a winter break in the shallow/smaller half of the lake, much to the annoyance of the match anglers at Rolfslake for the Saturday Open. With Rolf on the mend and the lake open for business as usual the Carp seem to have forgot their primary role at the lake - providing some fun sport!

Mick Wilkinson made the winter migration from Milton Keynes to take just one Carp from Peg 14 and about 9lb of Silver fish to win the overall match and the Silver fish coin as a double bonus.

Mick Wilkinson . (Sensas MK)

A fine match win, but no one would have guessed how low the winning weight would be.

Cross Keys matchman John Harrison did manage to snag a single double figure Carp nearing the end of the match to take the runner up spot with out contention. Gary Thorpe (G.O.T) put together a small 4lb bag of silvers to take runner up in the Silver and 3rd in the main coin - I'm sure no other 4lb bag of fish has ever won so much at the Oxfordshire match venue. It seems a long time since John Lees returned just over 100lb to the lake to finish 17th last summer; I'm sure the lake will pick up for the Sunday Open.

PICTURE REVIEW

John Harrison
Cross Keys

A late fish would win 2nd spot for the Crosskeys Matchman.

Gary Thorpe
G.O.T

A few tiddlers for G.O.T's Gary Thorpe. Nothing changes there then Gary?
