Saturday 25th June - Open Match

Pete Archer
(Gold Valley)
Peg 10 - 236lb 8oz

"Cloudy, Warm, Carp on the Feed, life couldn't be better at Rolfslake - Could it? "

Following a few days of heavy thunder storms up and down the UK, Rolfslake had taken a substantial amount of cold rain water into the lake. Consequently, the weights were down on last weeks bonanza of Ton Up weights.

Gary Thorpe failed to draw Peg 7, which gave everyone a chance today! Pete Archer (Gold Valley) made best of Peg 10 by fishing long with sprayed pellet and later switching to a shorter line with sprayed maggot to get the Carp into an out and out feeding frenzy. Pete caught well in the final 2 hours to return an arm aching 236lb 8oz of quality fish for a good win from runner up Ian Higgins, who sat just 20m away on the opposite bank on Peg 32.

Rolfs Lake Match Winner

Pete Archer
(Gold Valley)

A great performance from Peg 10 produced 236lb 8oz for Pete today.

Ian (GOT Baits/TVE) fished a more traditional approach with Pellet and the odd dabble with the paste to return a very competitive 219lb 8oz, just a few fish behind Pete in first place. John Lees, Chris Davis and Gary Thorpe (All GOT Baits) made up the 'best of the rest' from pegs 17,14 (Golden Peg) and 26 respectively. Notably, Gary stuck with the paste for the match, this is a good marker as the warmer temperatures usually means a switch to 'lumps' of paste.

Match Fishing Rolfslake Ian Higgins
GOT Baits - TVE

Sat opposite the winner, but did his best to win himself. Just a few fish shy today for Ian from Peg 32.

Dean safely plays a decent carp from idyllic Peg 9.

Pete goes one better than last weekend with a fine win from Peg 10. Maggot fished a 1ft deep was the key to the big weight.
