Russell Alexander
(Ton Up Baits)
Peg 34- 240lb 8oz
"Even the Rain couldn't dampen the spirits "
With 146lb good enough for 7th place, the Sunday Open Match at Rolfslake this weekend was the best this year by far. Russell Alexander took top spot with a net busting 240lb 8oz from Corner Peg 34. Russell lashed in the pellet close to the bank and had the Carp lined up early in the match. On Peg 30 John Bennett couldn't catch a carp on the long line but took an early fish on pellet just past the bush at 3m on Paste. John doesn't need any hints to get on the Paste and converted his first double Ton of the year with 209lb 8oz. Phil Powell took 204lb 8oz from Peg 7 by fishing the grasses to his left; an unfashionable tactic for the peg.

Elsewhere, Dan Jones could consider himself unlucky on Peg 13, his 181lb was only good enough for 4th place but kept John Haig, Ginger and Pete Archer at bay with 179lb 4oz, 169lb and 146lb respectively. |
