Peg 34 - 272lb
"Changing air pressure and bright sunshine halts sport"
Gary Thorpe (GOT Baits) took 272lb for a match win from Peg 34 in the Sunday Open at Rolfslake. Fishing mostly paste tight to the edge the GOT Baits angler took fish to nearly 20lb's in a near triple Ton Up bag. Team mate, Russell Alexander continued his good vein of form with a 2nd from peg 40 with a fine 225lb ahead of Pete Archer (Vespe)- who had drawn the peg I'd put the European Pellet Mountain into on the Saturday match. Russ was delighted to take a tenner of Pete who added the side bet on the basis his peg had not been fished the day before! For the record Pete took 195lb 8oz.

Forgot his shorts and his boots! Fishing naked (well almost!) and Fishing Topless is becoming the normal at Rolfslake this summer. I'm not sure fishing in your pants will catch on right across the Open Match scene? |
Pete Thompson made up the best of the rest with a fine 177lb 8oz from Peg 19, which carried over it's form from the Saturday Open. Worthy of note was that the results were down on the Saturday Match which is a rare occurrence during the summer months.
Paste has started to dominate in the margins. Going slow in the first half of matches but expect the pace to pick up in the final 2 hours.
