Sunday 13th February 2005 - Open Match

Mal Talbot
(Kamasan)
Peg 24 - 141lb

Match Fishing at it's best. Hail, Snow and a strong NE Wind restricted most anglers today at Rolfslake as match returns took dipped below yesterdays fine returns. However, there were plenty of plus points as the frame was made up of anglers who had caught on short lines with maggot.

The exception to the maggot returns was winning weight from red hot Peg 24 for Mal Talbot (Kamasan.) Mal fished sweetcorn and pellet at 14.5m and 16m, taking full advantage of what little shelter the trees where offering from the car park bank. Mal returned just short of a ton with 94lb, and in reality never looked like anything other than the winner for the best part of the match.

Rolfs Lake Mal Talbot

Mal Talbot (Kamasan)

Mal has started to add to his match wins at Rolfslake. A good conversion of a quality draw today in the Sunday Open at Rolfs Lake.

Mark Bowerman (Simons 2000) gave up with trying to catch Carp on the long line and took a dip at catching some silver fish on a short 5m line in the deep margins of Peg 15. He did manage 9lb of red-fins but added 43lb of Carp with his Maggot hook baits. D Tucker (Andover) returned 22lb of Red-Fins and 3 bonus Carp to boost his weight to 47lb 8oz - enough for 3rd place in the main pools and winner in the silver fish match.

Reminder from Rolf: Easter Festival. Entrance Fees should be paid by Close of Play 01 Mar 05. Reserves may be given any unpaid slots from 01 Mar 05. You've all been warned.

Caught short with maggot on Peg 15 after the wind got the better of the long pole.
