Sunday 9th January 2005 - Open Match

Paul Barnes
(Milton Keynes)
Peg 25 - 125lb 12oz

Not quite the near double Ton up bags from yesterday, but all the same the lake fished well with a total of 3 Ton plus bags and one very close. Top of all the Ton Up bags came from Peg 25 for Paul Barnes with 125lb 12oz. Fishing large lumps of bread on the hook, Paul presented his baits on a Bomb rod at approximately 18-20m on top of the notorious bar.

Paul Barnes. (Sensas MK)

A fine match win on the Bomb and Punched bread for Paul.

Steve Rowe and team mate of Paul (Milton Keynes) had drawn in the unfancied shallow lake on Peg 1. By fishing back in front of the vacant peg 40, Steve took a number of BIG carp for 124lb 8oz, the smallest was a fish just over the 8lb mark and the biggest just over 14lb. Steve took them all on the pole with bread hook baits.

Mal Talbot drew on of the fancied pegs, but better known for its summer exploits, to take a good 112lb 12oz of Bomb/Pole - again taken on Bread hook baits.

Amazingly, No one caught any silver fish and all the coin from this match made up 2 extra sections in the main pool - I guess Gary Thorpe wishes he hadn't tip all those Carp back from Peg 24 now? Cheers.

PICTURE REVIEW

Steve Rowe
Milton Keynes

Steve's 124lb 8oz bag was a frustration for John Bennett who was just 2 pegs away and could get a touch -

Can't beat them "Watch Them?".

Paul Barnes
Milton Keynes

A bomb rod is the key to winter Carp. Paul Barnes gives the rod a little assistance to help net another good fish on his way to 125lb 12oz.

Mal Talbot
Milton Keynes

Mal does an impression of a garden gnome on his way to 112lb 12oz and 3rd in the match.

John Harrison
Crosskeys

Just missed the top 6, but a good 50lb bag and not a bad days fishing either.
