Saturday 8th January 2005 - Open Match
Rolfslake proudly sponsored by Ton Up Baits
Chris Couch Chris Couch drew one of the form pegs and fished a very large 'punch' of bread on the hook - I think Rolf will be checking the bread punches being used next week -as only punched bread is allowed on the hook, I guess a few anglers will be searching for some flake punches in the week. All the same Chris had a great days sport and returned a belting 173lb 8oz to beat Russell Alexander in the second spot with 163lb 4oz.
The match fished very well elsewhere and Steve Couch (Chris's brother) finished in 3rd spot with 163lb. I'm sure there will be few matches this week anywhere in the UK that will have a weight like that only good enough for 3rd. Steve also fished large 'bread punch.' Gary Haisman, Wraysbury AC took 138lb from Peg 26 to put John Walker of Pewsey on Peg 16 into 5th with 128lb - weight good enough to win any of the last few matches! Even the silver fish responded well to the improved conditions. Tim Lynch, Pewsey, took 16lb 4oz from peg 30 to keep Robin Flowers, peg 28 - 14lb 12oz and Gary Bowerman, Wraysbury AC, Peg 32 - 8lb 12oz at arms length. As the weather continues to be out of sorts, Rolf has lifted the ban on the feeder rod. The lifting of the ban will be on a trial basis and will last until 01 Apr 05, although Rolf reserves the right to re- impose the ban. A maximum main line of 5lb will be enforce - so don't forget to set those clutches. (NO BRAIDS). Bomb Only - Running Lead. NO FEEDERS. |
