Phil Young (Madd)
(GOT TonUp Baits)
Peg 26 - 93lb

Fishing from the fancied Car Park Bank, GOT TonUP Baits matchman Phil (Madd) Young took 93lb from peg 23 to finish on top of the pack in a closely contested match. Most anglers fished a Bomb line at about 18-22m for the bulk of the catches and Madd's return was no exception. Fishing to the bar with single and double sweetcorn hook baits the GOT TonUP Baits (A new team backed by a new Carp Pellet for 2005 from a company going by the name of GOT TonUP Baits - Due to be launched in the first quarter of this year - quick Plug! I'm sure they'll need to send some free bags to the webmaster for testing?) angler spent the 5 hours concentrating on an active tip. With fish moving up and down the bar, it was the same story for John Bennett on Peg 25. John managed to keep pace with Madd and it took the arrival of the scales to confirm the result as 93lb to 87lb 4oz in Madd's favor.

Madd Young.

Match win number 1 for Madd in 2005.

The Bomb Rod was the key with sweetcorn hook baits fished close to the gravel bar at 20m.

John Harrison (Crosskeys) enjoyed a similar battle for 3rd and 4th place with fellow team angler Neil Davis (Pegs 17 and 15 respectively). Again, the Bomb Rod was the chosen attack with sweetcorn hook baits. The two anglers took advantage of the same bar that has given steady sport on Pegs 23, 24 and 25 over the past matches. John's 79lb was good enough to beat Neil's 65lb for last place in the main pool.

Gary Boweren won the Silver fish match with 11lb 12oz from peg 35 with mostly Roach, a few small Perch and a few dozen Herring sized Bleak.

As the weather continues to be out of sorts, Rolf has lifted the ban on the feeder rod. The lifting of the ban will be on a trial basis and will last until 01 Apr 05, although Rolf reserves the right to re- impose the ban.  A maximum main line of 5lb will be enforce - so don't forget to set those clutches. (NO BRAIDS). Bomb Only - Running Lead. NO FEEDERS.

PICTURE REVIEW

Norman McCullen
Rolfslake-

Although Norman didn't enjoy too much sport on the tip today, he did win the competition for the biggest keepnet!

Tony and Ginger didn't enjoy as much sport as some today. All the same, it beats working for a living ?

Steve Palmer
Cove AC - 45lb 12oz .

A Top weight from not the best of draws for Steve Palmer. Many would have gone for Silver fish on this peg, but Steve is made from tuff stuff! That or he's a nutty as fruit cake!

'You looking at ME?' Chris Couch attempts to stare out Rolf across the lake in an attempt to find something worthwhile to do. Rolf 1 - Chris 0.

Gary attempts to 'wish' his float under, but a switch back to the Bomb rod was soon to follow.

Gary Haysman
MITE.

A bonus kipper for Gary on the Bomb rod. Not too many of these needed for a Ton.
