COLD WATER AND BLUSTERY WINDS REDUCE WEIGHTS

On a day when fishing much longer than 9m was close to impossible the focus was switched to those pegs that could produce close in. It was Chris Couch on Peg 33 that cashed in with an impressive 71lb 8oz - twice the weight of any other angler. Chirs fished to his left (back into the shallow half of the lake) tight against the bank for all his fish. Having potted in some pellets at the off, Chris fished both Sweetcorn and Pellet hook baits to keep the Carp interested.

Elsewhere. Gary Thorpe, drawn on Peg 29, managed to push most of the 16m pole out into the high winds and keep the float still long enough to produce the odd fish. Presentation was always going to be the key on a day when lake levels had risen with freezing snow water and the winds battering any angling fish at any length.
