Gary
Thorpe
jokingly lambasted Gary Acock yesterday for not winning from
Peg 14, and then claiming that he would draw the same peg
in the Sunday Match. He amazingly had the luck to go one better
and drew it as the Golden Peg! .
As Gary Acock found out yesterday - Your dammed if you do
and your dammed if you don't, but Gary Thorpe didn't care
as he picked up both the Match winners pool and the Golden
Peg slush fund! Again, Gary fully exploited the Bar at 14.5m
at this winter hot spot. He took fish on sweetcorn hook baits
over potted sweetcorn and pellets. Yesterdays NW wind picked
up a gear and blew down the lake making presentation a nightmare
at the best of times - one unlucky angler snapped a pole section,
borrowed one from a mate, then snapped that too: now that's
unlucky!!
For
the record, Gary almost doubled the nearest rival with his
winning return of 141lb.
Ian
Young (Anchor)
Drawn
on another of the lakes top winter pegs (15) Ian Young (Anchor)
took enough Carp to secure runners up coin in the Rolfslake
Sunday Open. Ian fished as long as the wind would allow (and
the lake rules - 16m) but for every fish he landed Gary next
door seemed to land 2. All the same, Ian returned a very respectable
74lb 4oz on a bitterly cold day.
Elsewhere
Slow
and hard going. A few Carp to be had in most pegs but the
bulk of the fish remaining out of the 16m range. Silver fish
have been absent this weekend with 12lb the top weight from
peg 33 for Mick Wilkinson today.
