Holding
the pole at length on the motorway bank was almost mission
impossible today as a STRONG NW wind pushed poles to all shapes
and contortions. It was no surprise that the peg that sits
furthest out and fishes well at just 14m was the premium peg
at the draw bag. Delight to have drawn the Peg, Stan Robak
(TUB) took a steady run of fish on sweetcorn at 14.5m on top
of the bar and made no mistakes to keep his self ahead of
the chasing pack with a match winning 102lb - Stan took his
carp on Sweetcorn and Maggot hook baits and a few bonus silver
fish earned him an extra few quid in the silver fish pool
- all 2lb of them!
Chris
Davies (Prestwood and District)
Drawn
on Peg 33 was Prestwood and District angler Chris Davies.
Despite the cold conditions, Chris fished tight to the bank
to produce a weight just short of the magical Ton (and winning
weight) with 96lb 8oz. Yet again, a match is decided by less
than one fish
.
Elsewhere
Dave
Wightman drawn on Peg 24 fished maggot for a competitive
weight from this winter and summer hot spot. Elsewhere the
Carp seemed intent on sitting just off bottom and not feeding
(Rolfs small but very detailed fish finder confirmed this
prior to the match - how long will it be before we see one
of these gadgets on the end of a pole? I'm sure they're banned
already, but by way of experiment it would be amazing to see.

Did
you fish this match and I've missed out (or messed up!) some of the details?
