Gary
Acock (Banbury Castaways) On a day when the
wind was howling and holding a pole at distance was all but impossible,
a draw with the wind on your back was the highest priority . Even
though peg 14 had won the previous 3 matches, only the most dedicated
would have hoped to pull the winter hot spot from the bag and spend
6 hours with the wind and rain dragging the pole all over the lake.
Drawn on Peg 25 with the wind of his back and able
to fish a full 16m Gary Acock, Banbury Castaways took full advantage
with his winning 72lb12oz return. Gary fished mostly
sweetcorn hook baits over potted pellets.
Tony
Taylor (Anchor MG) Drawn
on Peg 15 with the wind and rain in his face, Tony
fish at 15m but struggled in wind for good presentation. It was
to his credit that he pushed Gary all the way to the all out with
a 2nd place weight of 69lb 04oz. Just one more
good fish would have been enough for the Anchor MG angler.
In Third
place was Paul Young, Peg 34, who fished at the
8th buoy in the more sheltered corner peg for his return of 61lb
8oz in a match that was the closest for a while.
Elsewhere.
A big influx of cold water killed sport this weekend and with more
rain forecast this week the levels are only going to get higher.
Expect a slow match next weekend if the weather forecast is correct.
Don't forget some maggots!
Mark
Bowman, Hounslow, produced the best silver fish weight
of the year with a cracking 23lb 8oz from peg
38, Mark pushed lake regular Dave Wightman into second
place with 18lb, both anglers fished Maggot baits and loose fed
plenty of Maggot over the top.
Winner Gary Acock, right of picture.
Second Tony Taylor, centre.
