REVIEW

Winner at Rolfslake

Scott Smith

Elsewhere

Again, only 2lb behind Phil Powell was team mate Steve Liston on Peg 30 with 188lb. Steve also fished pellet shallow for his bumper return. Peg 30 is quickly becoming a very strong form Peg and has consistently returned in the main frame.

Fish coming to the inside line but not taking paste until the late afternoon. Expect weights to rocket next week as matches are now 2pm til 7pm until the end of Summer.

Gary Acock
(Banbury Castaways)
198lb 12oz Peg 32

With Temperatures pushing into the mid-high twenties and blue skies it all seemed very pleasant at Rolfslake for the Sunday Open. With 3 Anglers pushing close to a double ton and 8 eventual tons, you could say it was quite a good day.

Top of the Class was Gary Acock of Banbury Castaways, and once again Gary turned out to be a very popular winner. Drawn on Peg 32, Gary fed tight to the bank but fished paste down the inside ledge about 2m from the feed; a tactic that proved to be spot on for the Peg on the day and returned Gary a net busting 198lb 12oz - the top weight of the weekend by some 4oz's.

Phil Powell
(Swindon)
190lb 6oz Peg 17

Drawn on yesterdays 'bridesmaid' peg, Phil Powell of Swindon put together a belting 190lb 6oz of pellet caught Carp and pushed Gary on Peg 32 up to the final whistle. Fishing shallow and consistently feeding 4mm pellet as loose feed, Phil soon had a number of fish competing for his hook bait. However, with the difference only 2 fish, I am sure Phil will be kicking himself for coming so close to a top class win.

Peg 13 was not so lucky for Bob as it was for Dave Wightman yesterday's winner.
