Dave
Hawkins (Dorchester)
The
first match in a while not to be fished in a bitter NW Wind
disappointed most as the match unfolded into a tight affair
with bites hard to come by. Victor from Peg 17 a few weeks
previously, Dave Hawkins knew that the Peg has good form and
combined this with a solid performance to produce a welcome
win over a whole host of anglers threatening his 106lb total.
Dave fed Maggot, Sweetcorn and micro pellet and fished single
and double red maggot on the hook to take fish to double figures
between 14.5 and 16m on his new Gold Medallist pole - at this
rate the new pole would have paid for itself by the Easter
Festival - Oh, only a very few places remain in this years
Van Den Eynde Festival - If you haven't booked yet you need
to get your skates on!
Chris
Martin (Harefield)
The
Harefield backed Chris Martin topped the best of the rest
with a fine 83lb 4oz from Peg 24. Fishing the regulation 14-16m
with sweetcorn over corn and pellet, Chris managed to keep
the fish coming up to the final horn. With no less than 4
angers just one fish away from his second spot, it was Gary
Boweren from Mite MG that ended the most frustrated with 82lb
8oz from the winter wonder Peg (14) - although in contention
for most of the match a few quite spells put pay to his challenge
for top spot.
Elsewhere
Sunny
Spells and 'a nice day!' could not spark the fish
into feeding in any numbers. Although the silver fish did
have a go for those wanting to have a go for the Silver fish
coin.
