Fishing well. Fish tight to the bank with Paste or hard pellet for big weights late on the match. Fish need plenty of feed at the moment. He who dares wins?

Kevin Arathoon
(Cokeheads)
339lb Peg 5

In total 22 of turned up to fish the total-fishing.com open. Normal Open money was paid and some of the early drawers were rewarded with good pegs. Big Barry 'The Beast' Gannon drew peg 37, this peg had won the match on the previous sunday with nearly 300lb fished close to the bank and a peg Barry had fished on a previous visit. Mick Wilkinson had pulled peg 34 from the bag and ran the short distance to the Car Park corner Peg. Kevin Arathoon drew peg 5.

Kev added that he didn't fancy peg 5 much, "it is not used very often and not much bait goes in the peg"

In Kev's words a run down of the the match wen't like this:

" I started on the paste and had a fish first put in which came off (foul hooked.) Following a very slow start on the paste - only 3 fish in the first hour - a switch to pellet brought me fish straight away. After 2 hours I had 10 fish wich was a sign of things to come. Elsewhere on the lake it was slow, Mike on peg 34 had only got 1 fish, however Peg 38 was starting to get the odd few fishing close to the bank. In the final 3 hours I caught steadly at 6 meters. The guy on 4 swithched to corn for the last hour and took a fish a chuck. Most people that came off the paste caught fish.

I finished with 339lb and if it had not been for the quiet first 2 hours then maybe that record could of gone."

A fine effort from Kev, I'm sure you'll all agree. The peg had shown no form all year - it just goes to prove that you should never bee too disappointed at he draw bag, especially at Rolfs.
