Colin Wedgbrow (Slapheads)
Drawn on fancied and in form Peg 4, Colin Wedgbrow went one better than yesterdays runners up spot whilst recording on of the best weights since last summer.
Following a spell of heavy rain the sun came out and the fish immediately started hunting out any floating feed. With the feeding of any floating baits banned the fish a very confident at taking floater - Rolf feeds the fish on floaters when all the anglers have gone home - mostly the Ton Up Baits 8mm pellets (Proper Donkey Chokers!)
Having witnessed the same behavior from the fish yesterday, Colin wasted no time in chasing the fish in his peg - to be fare his peg soon became black with fish and Colin picked out the fish as they cruised around. The prove was in the 247lb 4oz pudding and Colin recorded the top weight this year, beating yesterday 201lb. No doubt the weights will quickly rocket to 400lb plus. Dan Jones (Starlets)
Dan Can't seem to get away from drawing Peg 38, however, he keeps framing from the peg so I guess there a few complaints from the Starlets backed angler.
Dan fished a long 16m (Long line) with a floating Chum Mixer to mug 132lb of Carp, however, failed to keep up with the blistering pace of the Slapheads matchman on Peg 4.
Elsewhere
With fish not sure if the weather is coming or going, bites are hard to temp - other than those odd fish on floating baits. Still little or no response on the paste. Fish willing to feed on the bottom until the first sign of sunshine - then it's a case of reaching for the Floaters or spaying 10pts of pellet and fishing 10 inches deep. Rolf prefers the latter as he doesn't have to feed the fish floaters after the match! |
