Hail
Hail go AWAY!!!
Russell
Alexander (Surbition Angling) With the driving
hail and bitter winds off his back, Surbition Angling backed Russell
Alexander put together the top weight of the weekend (145lb 4oz)
to close off a good year for himself and Rolfslake (2003 produced
8 of the all time top ten). Today, Russell fished at 16m and found
fish on the deck in about 7ft of water with sweetcorn over pellets.
Gary
Acock (Castaways ) Drawn
on Peg 15 , the weather was a different prospect for those with
with wind in their faces. Gary fished at long as he could and still
present a still bait without freezing himself to death!! As such,
his 15m line returned a very creditable 77lb for second place. For
the record sweetcorn over pellet produced the bites.
Elsewhere.
Driving hail and bitter winds ruined the match for most. Pegs 4
and 6 almost unfishable with the wind direct in the face. Yesterdays
winning peg was reduced to an icebox for Gary Thorpe who resorted
to Silver fish after a long fishless periods. Gary returned 12lb
8 oz to win the Silver coin ahead of Graham King with 12lb- Both
anglers switched late on in the match and could have returned much
bigger weights with more time.
Some
pegs are full of silver fish but no one seems to go for them whilst
the Carp are still an option. Results suggest that 3 pints of Maggots
should be added to the bait list soon rather than later?
