REVIEW

Slow Start on Saturday

Rolfslake Match Winner

Winner Gary Thorpe (Ton UP Baits)

As of next week (Sat 1 Nov 03) Silver Fish and Carp will be allowed, Silver fish must be in a third net with no carp. £20 All-In (Golden Peg/Silver Fish & Carp/ & Pegging Fee).

Gary Thorpe (Ton UP Baits) On one of the better winter pegs (15) Ton Up Baits backed Gary Thorpe fished at 14/16m on the deck and caught late on in the match. With most fish coming in the last 2hrs, Gary alternated sweetcorn and pellet hook bait. As the fish came in quicker and quicker, Gary demonstrated the art of landing carp quickly without trying to pull their heads off! Consequently, Gary ran out comfortable winner with the day's only ton up weight of 113lb 04oz.

Dave Hawkins (Dorchester) Almost opposite Gary on Peg 27, Dave Hawkins (Dorchester) was pleased to have drawn the Golden Peg and looked a likely winner going in the last hour. Fishing mostly sweetcorn on the hook, Dave took a total of 82-08 and just nudged Chris Davies into 3rd place who sat on Peg 19 with a 80lb return. Chris fished much shorter on the revamped peg and made good use of the new gravel bar, fishing just into the drop off.

Elsewhere - Expect very few bites in the first hour. Fish taken on sweetcorn and pellet at distance. Sport has slowed down as a result of a run of hard frosts (-3 & -4) that sent most carp to the deeper waters. Expect Roach and Chub to show well next week when Silvers will be allowed (Must be kept in a separate net)
