| Gary
Thorpe (Ton Up Baits) small
fish (2-3lb) plagued lake expert Gary Thorpe on Peg 40 as once again
the British Record is rocked from Rolfslake. With a winning total
of 397lb 08oz Gary fell just 15lb short of the current British 5
Hour Match Weight. The outstanding catch is just one a running number
of big 300lb + weights to fall this month. Rolf was yet again disappointed
for someone to go so close, "Although he had 100lb of bigger
fish, if the small fish would have backed off for a while the better
fish would have pushed into the peg and Gary into a 500lb bag!"
stated the confident Rolf.
Gary
fished at 8m directly in front of his corner peg with large lumps
of paste on the hook.
Gary
Thorpe remains one of the favorites to break the Record at Rolfslake
and hopefully very soon the Worlds first 500lb 5hr match catch will
be recorded. This Web site remains the first place to read about
it.
Peter
Coxhead (Windsor Angling) also fishing paste hook baits
took an impressive 277lb from Peg 26, the ninth highest weight in
the Hall of Fame.
Trevor
Price (Ton Up Baits) Fishing a simular line to Gary and
Peter, the Ton Up Baits backed angler found himself foul hooking
too many fish. The lake record holder swithed to an inside line
to bank an impressive 251lb bag for 3rd place.
Elsewhere
Fish have responded much better than the previous weekends, most
anglers finding plenty of bites to work with. The weights are continuing
to improve as most anglers have now switched to fishing big lumps
of paste - this seems to get a more instant response when fished
over a good bed of loose pellets.
