low sweet chariots.........
Not
everyone in England spent the morning glued to the telly watching
30 grown men egg chasing for a chance of gold. About the same number
ventured out in the pouring rain and freezing winds to chase a golden
peg! Most of them left the car park some 6 or 7 hours later, much
colder and wishing they'd gone to the pub for a breakfast of 'Oxford
Blue' bitter and dry roasted peanuts.
Colin
Storey (Ton Up Baits) Fishing at 16m
on Peg 17, Colin landed 22 Carp on Sweetcorn baits over potted Pellet.
With the Carp averaging 7lb his total pulled the scales round to
a winning 155lb 04oz. Although Colin had taken fish
steadily throughout the match, a noticeable acceleration followed
a period of upping the feed in the later stages.
Bernie
Fraser (Ton Up Baits) - Drawn next door to Colin
on Peg 16, Bernie was more interested in the competition from Peg
15 in the form of team mate Stan Robak. With Colin taking bigger
fish more consistantly the two anglers to his right traded fish
for most of the day in contention for the runners-up spot. With
a dozen fish for 68-08 Bernie just pushed Stan into 3rd place by
just 12oz's. Both anglers fish 16m with sweetcorn hookbaits over
potted pellet.
Elsewhere.
Very Slow. Bitter winds and non stop rain punished anyone with a
head wind. Bites hard to buy from the car park bank as Pegs 13 -
18 took the top 5 places. Sweetcorn remains the banker for those
on the fish.
Dave
Wightman (Simons 2000) took relief from a plump 22lb of
Roach for the Silver Fish coin from peg 30.
