Wet
& Windy AGAIN!!
Stan
Robak (Maidenhead Baits) Stan made the
best of a good draw and took full advantage of being able to fish
at 15m with the driving NW Wind off his shoulder and a touch of
protection from the higher bank and now somewhat bare trees. Fishing
sweetcorn and pellet hook baits hard on the deck over a few pots
of pellets, Stan kept the bites coming for a run of Carp in the
second half of the match. The Maidenhead Baits backed angler fell
short of a winter Ton as he returned 95lb for a clear win ahead
of second placed Carl Jefferies.
Elsewhere.
Fish moving but bites a 'tad less than slow. With the continued
strong wind and driving cold rain presentation is the biggest issue.
As the water temperatures drop the Carp will back off to around
the 14.5-16m line and consequently holding a pole with any finesse
is an acquired skill. Expect the Silver fish matches to pick up
as the Carp switch off. A pint or two of maggot may well be worth
the investment. (Don't forget the hip flask if drawn on Peg 13 -
according to Gary Thorpe "it's bloody freezing!")
