REVIEW

John Lees storms into the 'Hall of Fame' with 273lb

Rolfslake - Bernie Fraser

Alan Harrington 8th Peg 9

Trevor Price 4th Peg 28

Oxford MG's John Lees to the 5th Highest Open Match weight from Rolfslake in the Saturday PM match. With a few fish showing in the AM match to the Car park side of the lake, John was pleased with his draw and attacked the Peg with heavy spayed pellet tactics at 16m in a stiffening breeze!. Soon into a rhythm John took fish into double figures for his massive 273lb winning weight.

In contrast to the AM match that returned only 1 Ton weight, a staggering 115-04 was only good enough for 10th place for the Davies Angling backed Mark Harrington.

On Peg 7 was John Bennet, who had made the usual migration from Swindon for his weekend sport. John fished at just 8m's and fished hard on the deck with soft pellet over pellet for second place with 184-10.

Third place went to Ton Up Baits local Trevor Price. Fishing on Peg 28, Trevor fished paste at 10m for a return of 167-08.  As the day went on the wind increased making presentation difficult at best, this was the case at Peg 8 were Stan Roback (Maidenhead Baits) struggled to hold his pole to the far side grass and lost presentation as a result. However, Stan did manage to hold his pole still enough to take a respectable 159-08 for fourth place.

( I wish I had bad days like these - I spent the day struggling for bites in the Bristol Channel! Don't even ask!! Mind you I couldn't see my dibber on the far side.)
