REVIEW |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Overnight the wind had swung round from the N/E to a Easterly direction - and remained bitterly cold. With the Carp showing signs of wanting to feed, a mild week would be most welcome. Having fished well (considering the weather) on the Saturday match, the initial signs were quite good with five anglers all catching Carp within the first hour. However, as the day continued the east wind kept temperatures low and the Carp failed to feed in any numbers. Just as he thought all of his luck had ran out, Gary Thorpe (Ton Up Baits) drew yesterdays winning Peg 14 and made no errors in reproducing the previous days winning result - literarily. Using sweetcorn, Gary took Carp to 11lb for 108-04-0 - an identical winning weight to yesterday from the same peg. Oddly enough the fish that Gary took were of a much bigger stamp than is usual from Peg 14. M Chard (Woodend) took 46-00-0 from next door on Peg 15 to pip the Trabucco backed Nik Barling on Peg 24 who took 40-00-0 for third spot. Other frame weights came from Peter Cockshead, P Young and Chris Davies on Pegs 27,16 and 31 respectively. Most fish taken on sweetcorn again.
