Heavy rain mid-week had raised the water table by some 2 ft. An overnight frost and dipping temperatures produced some ice which needed breaking before the draw. With water temperatures the same as last week (38 Deg F) and a N/E wind, a hard match looked to be on the cards. However, one angler did manage to break the 100lb barrier and another came close. S Palmer (TVA) drawn on Peg 14 kept the scales-man busy with his 108-04-0 of Sweetcorn tempted carp. Peg 14 is noted as being a good hot spot. A bar runs from around Peg 22, some 15m out, towards the bay that Peg 13 sits in. Peg 14 comes close to the Bar and as such returns a few good weights. This seems to be more evident with extra water in the lake. It's well worth noting that Pegs 13,14,15, 24 & 25 framed, the pegs also had some very good angers on them - which also helps! Talking of such, regular winner Gary Acock (Castaways) was drawn next door to the winner on Peg 15. He too enjoyed some quick sport. Gary returned 92-00-0. Overall there was a few fish caught; more than could have been expected. Overnight frosts are forecast again for tonight - lets hope the lake will fish again.
